Rainbow Mountain Cusco

Rainbow Mountain Cusco

During this Rainbow Mountain Cusco full day, you can visit the Vinicunca Mountain, and see from the top the colors that characterize it as well as an impressive view of the Ausangate apu.

The Rainbow Mountain Cusco is a majestic location and a nature’s gift. It is situated near the Ausangate Mountain in Cusco Region, Peru. It is one of the places that travelers still have not discovered. The Vinicunca Mountain has been explored by local Andean people only. Rainbow Mountain Cusco represents one of the most spectacular places of the Cordillera Vilcanota as it keeps a natural color given by the presence of sedimentary eroding rocks. The rocks are impressive for their colorfulness since they are formed by seven colors. That's why the mountain is known under the name of "Cerro Colorado" too.

The Rainbow Mountain Cusco is located at over 4,400 meters or 14,400 feet above sea level tracing a dirt path among looming peaks of green and startling red rocks.
It is a gorgeous route passing local villages, built from stone, and glittering mountain streams. But the altitude is punishing enough to turn even the sprightliest young athlete into a panting mess. Don’t even think about trying the trek until you have spent a few days of acclimatization to altitude in the Cusco's region.

The Rainbow Mountain Cusco has been ranked by National Geographic as one of the 100 places you must visit before you die due to its beautiful colors! Cloudy days result in darker colours whereas sunny weather will lend to lighter colours.

If you have a lot of time, you can do different walks, it is the best option to visit the Mountains and the Glaciers of Peru.

Rainbow Mountain Cusco Advisor

Rainbow Mountain weather Peru

The attractions of each area are discussed in greater detail in the before to go introductions. Picking the best time to visit  any of them. however, is complicated by the country's physical characteristics. In the Andes season are more clearly marked, with heavy rains from December to March and a warm relatively dry period from June to September Inevitably, thought, there are always some sunny weeks in the rainy season and wet one in the dry. If you plan to visit Rainbow mountains (Andean mountain range), then we recommend you to take some trousers suitable for hiking, shorts, T-shirts and trekking shoes for the days; and sweaters, fleeces, hats, scarves and warm jackets for the nights. You also should take a sun protection cream, sun glasses and in some cases, mosquito repellent (depending on a route chosen). It is very convenient to have a light rain-gear available in a daypack (e.g. a waterproof poncho or jacket and/or waterproof trousers) as weather changes quickly and rains can suddenly occur.
