We are pleased to share with you our reforestation project in the Andean community of Lares. At Inca Trail Machu, we have been planting 10,000 native trees per year. By 2024, we will have successfully planted a total of 30,000 trees in local communities.
In 2025, we plan to plant an additional 10,000 Queñua trees, for a total of 40,000 trees in the Andes. This project not only helps restore the natural beauty of the high Andes, but also creates meaningful employment opportunities for our porters who call these communities home.
Thank you to every traveler who trusts and supports us. Each year we plant 10,000 Queñua trees (native trees) near Machu Picchu. Our ultimate goal is to plant 100,000 native trees in the Lares communities. Join us in reaching this milestone!
Peru is a country of extraordinary landscapes, from Andean glaciers and tropical beaches to arid deserts, Amazonian rainforests, and mountainous scrublands. Our planting site is located in the high Andes near Cusco, specifically in the Rumira Sondormoyo area of Lares.
This reforestation project focuses on planting 10,000 native trees to restore degraded soils and combat desertification. The growing forests will help limit erosion while providing additional sources of income for the region's residents.
Inca Trail Machu, Responsible People and the porter families are proud participants in this reforestation effort, helping to rejuvenate the land and preserve the unique Andean ecosystem.
