Get to know the Site Museum and the Wari Archaeological Complex

The museum was inaugurated in 1996 and exhibits cultural assets from archaeological excavations in the Wari monumental archaeological zone: ceramics, lithics, textiles, monoliths, among others; as well as explanatory texts about the Wari culture, a map and photographs of the sectors that comprise it.

What is the Wari Site Museum?

The Wari Willka Site Museum is a cultural space located in the district of Huancán, in the province of Huancayo, in the Junín region. This museum is an important setting that allows the traveler who wants to know its Archaeological Complex to have a panoramic view of the site, the findings and the history of the ancient occupation.

What to see at the Sitio Wari Museum?

Physically, the Wari Willka Site Museum has four exhibition rooms, among which the finds from the excavations that were carried out both in the Wari Willka complex and in Coto Coto are distributed and classified.

Visiting the museum gives the traveler the opportunity not only to enjoy a cultural space of the province, but also to learn a little about the history, customs, beliefs, and so on, of the Chancas people, an important culture, which developed in Peru between the 10th and 13th centuries AD.
